Most affordable website design packages in South Africa keep the price behind a contact form. Ours do not. Here is what each kind of site costs, what moves the number, and roughly where yours lands — before you speak to anybody.
No monthly fee to us, no commission, no charge for a quote. Hosting and a domain are paid to the providers directly and run about R1,200 a year.
Answer three questions and the number moves as you go. Nothing is sent anywhere and nobody calls you afterwards — this is just the same arithmetic we would do on a call.
What are you building?
Roughly how many pages?
Does it need any of these?
Pick what you are building and the price appears here.
An estimate, not a quote. The number only changes once we have seen what you actually need — and we tell you before we start, not after.
Affordable website design does not have to mean a guess. Every one of these is a fixed price agreed before a line of code is written. If the scope changes we tell you what it costs and you decide — there is no invoice at the end with surprises on it.
For a business that needs to exist online properly and does not need ten pages to do it. One page, built to convert rather than to fill space.
Not included: extra pages, a blog, a store, or copywriting from scratch. If you need those, the Starter is the honest answer.
Start a one-pagerThe one most businesses actually need. Five pages, designed around what you sell rather than dropped into a template everybody else is using.
Extra pages beyond the five are quoted before we add them, never billed after.
Start a Starter siteWhen the site has to do something particular — a booking system, a members area, integrations with what you already run, or simply more pages than a Starter holds.
We will tell you honestly if a Starter would do the same job for less.
Talk through a custom buildA store is more work than a brochure site — products, a payment gateway, courier rates and a checkout that has to be tested properly. Starter store R10,000, custom stores from R25,000.
In every package, never an extra
When two agencies quote you R6,000 and R26,000 for the same brief, it is almost always one of these four that explains the gap. Worth knowing what you are comparing.
Ten pages built from two templates is a much smaller job than five pages that each need their own layout. Page count alone tells you very little — ask how many of them are actually designed.
A bought theme with your logo dropped in is the cheapest route and it is why R990 is possible. It also means your site looks like every other business that bought it. Designed work costs more because somebody drew it.
Most quotes assume you supply the copy. If you have not written it, the project stalls for weeks or you pay someone. It is the single most common reason a cheap website never goes live.
A contact form is free. A booking system that talks to your calendar, a members area, or anything that syncs with software you already pay for is where the hours go — and where honest quotes separate from optimistic ones.
R4,500, for the one-page site. That is our floor and we do not go under it, because below that we would have to cut something that matters — the design, the testing, or the time to do it properly. If your budget is genuinely under R4,500, one of the cheap website design packages South Africa is full of will get you something online, and we would rather tell you that than take your money and under-deliver.
Four things, mostly: how many pages need their own design, whether that design is made for you or bought as a theme, who writes the copy, and what the site has to connect to. Two quotes for the same brief can differ by R20,000 and both be honest — they are quoting different work. Ask each one which of those four they have assumed, and the gap usually explains itself.
It is a full one-page website — a single scrolling page with up to six sections, a contact form, a WhatsApp button, a map and on-page SEO. For a plumber, a coffee shop, a consultant or anyone whose customers want to know what you do and how to reach you, that is genuinely enough. It is not enough if you need a blog, a shop, or a page for each service. We will say which one you need before you pay.
Because at R990 nobody is designing anything. Cheap website design in South Africa works on volume — that price buys a theme with your logo dropped on it, filled in by somebody working through a queue. It is a real product and for some businesses it is the right one. What it does not buy is a layout built around what you actually sell, a site that loads fast on a phone on mobile data, or a person who picks up when it breaks. We charge for those because they take time.
Budget around R1,200 a year for hosting and a .co.za domain, paid to those providers directly rather than to us. There is no monthly fee to Satro and no commission on anything you sell. If you later want us on a monthly retainer for changes and updates we will quote that separately, but nothing about the build obliges you to it.
Once off. A lot of the cheap packages in South Africa are monthly plans — R399 a month sounds easier than R10,000 until you add up five years and realise you still do not own the site. Ours is a single price, paid in two parts, and the files are yours at the end.
Yes, and a lot of people should. A one-page site at R4,500 now, more pages when the business justifies them, is a sensible way to start. We build the one-pager so it can grow rather than be thrown away — you pay the difference between the packages, not for the whole thing twice.
Tell us the date before we quote. Most of the time the honest answer is that the timeline depends on how quickly you get us the content, not on how fast we build. If a deadline genuinely needs us to drop everything else, we will say what that costs rather than promise it and miss.
Describe the site in a sentence or two and we will reply with which package fits and what it would cost. If none of them fit, we will say that instead. A reply inside two working days.
No newsletter, no follow-up sequence. One reply from a person, inside two working days.
