Privacy policy.

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to make us delete it. Written to be read, not to be skipped.

Last updated 16 October 2026

The short version.

The full policy is below. If you only read one thing, read this.

  • We collect what you type into our contact form and anonymous statistics about which pages get visited. That is all.
  • We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not send marketing emails you did not ask for.
  • You can ask us what we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email us and we will do it.

01Who we are

This website, satrostudios.com, is operated by mandrebam (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa, trading as Satro Studios.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), we are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. Our Information Officer is Mandré Bam.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@satrostudios.com. We are based in Gauteng, South Africa.

02What we collect

Information you give us

When you fill in our contact form, we receive what you typed into it:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your website address, if you give us one
  • What kind of work you are enquiring about
  • The message you write

You choose what to put in that message. Please do not send us identity numbers, banking details or anything similarly sensitive through the form — we do not need it, and a contact form is not the right place for it.

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people actually read and which ones are ignored. It tells us things like which pages were viewed, roughly which country or city the visit came from, what device and browser was used, and whether you arrived from a search engine or a link.

This is reported to us as aggregated statistics. We cannot use it to work out who you are, and we do not try to.

Hosting records

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include visitors' IP addresses, as every web server does. These exist for security and troubleshooting. We do not use them to build any profile of you.

03Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote
  • To do the work, if you go on to become a client
  • To understand which pages are useful so we can improve the ones that are not
  • To keep the site secure and working

Under POPIA, we process your contact form information because you gave it to us voluntarily in order to get a response, and because it is necessary for the legitimate interests of running our business. We process site statistics for our own legitimate interest in understanding how our website performs.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not profile you.

04Who else sees it

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. It is shared only with the services we use to run the site, and only to the extent those services need it:

Web3Forms
Delivers our contact form submissions to our inbox. They receive what you typed into the form.
Google Analytics
Provides our website statistics. Receives anonymous usage data, not your form submissions.
Hostinger
Hosts the website. Holds the server logs described above.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it of us, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Where your information goes. These providers operate servers outside South Africa, so your information may be processed abroad. POPIA permits this where the receiving country or the provider's own commitments offer comparable protection, and these are established providers bound by their own data protection obligations. If this concerns you, email us instead of using the form — we will happily take your enquiry that way.

05Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website leaves in your browser. We do not use cookies to advertise to you or to follow you around the internet.

The ones on this site are set by Google Analytics — currently _ga and _ga_ZP5J34S3DT — and they exist to tell repeat visits apart from new ones. They expire on their own.

If you would rather not be counted, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's own Analytics opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site will stop working if you do.

06How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that go nowhere: kept for up to two years, in case you come back to us, then deleted.
  • Client records: kept for as long as we work together, and afterwards for as long as South African tax and company law requires us to keep business records.
  • Website statistics: retained by Google Analytics according to its own retention settings.

If you want your information gone sooner than that, ask us. See the next section.

07Your rights

POPIA gives you real rights over your personal information, and we will honour them without making it difficult:

  • To be told what personal information we hold about you
  • To get a copy of it
  • To correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
  • To have it deleted, where we are not legally required to keep it
  • To object to us processing it
  • To complain to the Information Regulator

To exercise any of these, email info@satrostudios.com. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we will not charge you for it. We may need to confirm who you are first, so that we are not handing someone else's information to a stranger.

08Security

The site is served over HTTPS, our software is kept up to date, and access to enquiries is limited to the people at Satro Studios who need it.

We will not pretend that any website is perfectly secure, because none is. What we can tell you honestly is that we hold very little about you in the first place, which is the most effective protection there is. If we ever discover a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

09Children

This site is aimed at businesses, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

10Changes to this policy

If we start collecting something new — taking payments on the site, or sending a newsletter, for instance — we will update this policy and change the date at the top of the page. Significant changes will be obvious rather than buried.

11Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, tell us first at info@satrostudios.com — most things are quicker to fix directly.

If we cannot resolve it, you have the right to complain to the regulator:
